On Thursday evening, I went to another culinary Blogger_ Lu-event. We were invited to Njörd, a little Scandinavian restaurant in Kirchberg, for a cooking class. I must say, I was curious as I had no idea what to expect. The little restaurant is in the heart of Kirchberg. It has a minimalistic decoration and looks very Scandinavian. The simple yet stylish decoration gives the place a clean and relaxing look.
The cook of Njörd and our host of the evening, started with a little history of the chain-restaurant. Then he talked about the Scandinavian way of life, which also reflects on its cuisine: simplicity and nature. Finally, he explained to us what we were going to do: smörrebrod/smushi. We had mini smörrebrods (bread) and different ingredients (cheese, different vegetables, some meat products, eggs, salmon…) in front of us and we had to create our own little sandwiches. The concept was very simple. At the end we all got a little goodie-bag with a tea and a drink.
It was a fun evening and a nice experience. I was just a bit disappointed that we didn’t actually “cook”. I was expecting a bit more “real” cooking and not only making little sandwiches.
I will surely go back to Njörd and try their Bagels sometime.
And here are some pictures of the evening:
