On Saturday, I had my very first job as a photographer. I wasn’t even looking for a job but somehow, it kind of fell in my laps. I couldn’t say no. I have taken photos for family and friends before (engagement parties, weddings, birthday parties etc) , but never officially.
I was preparing for days, meeting the clients, trying to get to know the couple, trying to understand their traditions for the wedding as they are from Sri Lanka, buying little things and finding inspiration in different places. I had already all these different poses and pictures prepared in my head.
To say that I was nervous on the day of the wedding would be an understatement. I mean after all, it’s such an important day for two people and you have the responsibility to capture it.
It was so much more exhausting than I had anticipated. Running around, trying to capture everything. Trying to hydrate myself as it was super hot that day. And then it’s a wedding. Nothing worked according to the plan and as a a over-ambitious photographer, I had to play with the cards that I was given. That was the hardest part for me, that I couldn’t get all those pictures that I had planned in my head.
Next part is to sort out all the pictures, make an album an maybe make some business cards. Who knows what the future holds.
